Tony Green
ARTIST & CO-FOUNDER
With a background rooted in illustration and fashion—including time at St Martins and Sonia Rykiel—Tony bridges the gap between artistic practice and gallery management. His firsthand experience as a working artist informs the gallery's artist-centric philosophy and its rigorous aesthetic standards.
The Directors
Originating in the vibrant heart of Melbourne's CBD in the 1990s, Mahoneys Gallerieswas built on the fundamental belief that a gallery should be an accessible, yet intellectually rigorous space. Our move to the current 332 Bay Street location in Brighton represents an evolution of that original ethos.
We operate on the principle of a gallery run by artists and collectors, for artists and collectors. This dual perspective ensures that our curation remains authentic and that our interactions are grounded in a genuine passion for the visual arts.
A cornerstone of our operation is the in-house framing studio. We consider framing not as an afterthought, but as an integral architectural component of the artwork itself, providing a cohesive aesthetic transition from the canvas to the collector's wall.
